
Higher Education Partnerships
A Regional Project for the Near East and North Africa

SACIV welcomed university and education professionals from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia to San Antonio to explore cultural heritage in education and workforce development.
During their visit, delegates engaged with local leaders and institutions advancing higher education, workforce readiness, and international collaboration. Alamo Colleges District provided an overview of community colleges, vocational academies, early college programs, and strategies for making international education relevant. Better Futures Institute highlighted innovative workforce initiatives, including internships and fellowship programs. At the San Antonio Education Partnership, delegates learned about cross-sector collaborations that expand college access and strengthen the city’s economic future.
The group visited the University of the Incarnate Word to discuss international engagement, civic participation, and public-private partnerships supporting students and the community. Meetings with the City of San Antonio’s Global Engagement Office and the Ready to Work Program showcased the city’s global partnerships, including Sister Cities programs, and workforce programs aligned with local industry needs.
Delegates also met with Culturingua, which fosters global social entrepreneurship and celebrates the heritage of the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia (MENASA). UP Partnership shared its efforts to increase postsecondary enrollment in Bexar County through the Future Ready Bexar County Plan. The visit concluded at Trinity University’s Center for International Engagement, which prepares students for success in a global workforce through diverse international opportunities.
