
Cooperation in STEM Education
A Single Country Project for Indonesia

SACIV welcomed university and government professionals from Indonesia to explore themes of innovative STEM education models, internationalization best practices for staff and students, and leveraging multi-sector partnerships to support STEM education. Their time in San Antonio was spent meeting with the following organizations and experts in STEM education and workforce development:
Their first meeting in San Antonio was with representatives at Tech Port at Port San Antonio to discuss how Tech Port is a technology hub, connecting local and global opportunities for a range of industries. The visitors learned about the many educational initiatives that Tech Port supports to promote STEM education in San Antonio’s youth. Additionally, the visitors explored the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology (SAMSAT) and the gaming arcade located at Tech Port.
Representatives from St. Phillip’s College and CyberTexas Foundation met with the delegates to share the work that the Cyber Innovation and Research Consortium (CIRC) does to enhance the region’s cybersecurity academic programs. The visitors were also led on a tour of St. Phillip’s College to see their advanced cybersecurity research and education facilities.
The delegates visited the University of Incarnate Word (UIW) to learn from the Office of International Affairs about their global education initiatives and public-private partnerships. Additionally, they also heard from representatives from UIW’s Math, Science and Engineering (MSE) department to learn more about UIW’s STEM programs.
The Alamo Colleges District’s Office of International Programs met with the visitors to discuss how community colleges and their programs are prioritizing international education. The meeting covered the various STEM programs Alamo Colleges offers to students, as well as the study abroad and exchange opportunities available for students.
The visitors went to City Tower to meet with City of San Antonio representatives from the Ready to Work Program and the Global Engagement Office. The meeting focused on the Ready to Work Program and how it is administered through partnerships and the City of San Antonio Global Engagement Office’s role in fostering connections around the world.
Lastly, Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) representatives spoke to the visitors about their Center for Cyber Leadership (CCL) and discussed future collaboration opportunities between faculty and students. The visitors were also led on a tour of OLLU’s facilities and classrooms to showcase the public-private partnerships that support students.
Our visitors also enjoyed their time in San Antonio by going to the Alamo, local rodeo show, and home hospitality dinners put on by our wonderful SACIV citizen diplomats and volunteers!
