JC (James) Clapsaddle
Vice Chair
JC is a retired Air Force Colonel whose military career instilled in him a deep appreciation of the need for diplomacy. JC served at the U.S. embassy in Iraq as a liaison to the Iraqi Government. He worked on the U.S. Senate as an advisor for nuclear and defense affairs to a Senator on the Senate Armed Services Committee. In 2010, the Secretary of Defense placed him as his Deputy Director of the Legal and Legislative Team to craft President Barack Obama’s successful repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” He commanded the Ramstein Air Base (Germany) medical group and the Air Force’s Al Udeid (Qatar) hospital that cared for the ill and wounded from combat operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Horn of Africa. JC retired to San Antonio in 2015 where he enjoys the world of non-profit volunteering. He is graduate of the Masters Leadership Program San Antonio, a member of its board and five other nonprofit boards. He is married to Colonel Andra Clapsaddle (retired). They have one son, two grandkids, and three dogs. One dog, Freddie, is a Guide Dogs of Texas K9 they are raising/training as a future guide dog for blind people. JC speaks English, German, some Arabic, and American Sign Language; all rather poorly.
